Our Executive Director & CEO

The MAYA Foundation was founded in 2007 by a phenominal educator who has provided her educational expertise in various school districts through her start with Teach For America (TFA) in 1992. As a former TFA Corps member Dr. Ruth T. Logan, Ph.D., has over 30 years of experience in the scientific and educational fields. She has held many positions in education ranging from a classroom teacher to opening The Monroe School in 2006. As the Founding Executive Director and CEO of The MAYA Foundation, Dr. Logan is dedicated to ensuring that the students The MAYA Foundation serve are exposed to, receives, and are a part of great opportunities that will enrich their lives and provide them with avenues to a successful future.

Our Business

Since 2007, The MAYA Foundation has provided services to students and their families in the District of Columbia’s metropolitian area. MAYA’s support with college tours has allowed the organizations we serve to experience a 100% college acceptance for the students taking these tours.

Providing academic resources, programs, college and job readiness, tutoring, vocational training, life skills activities/trainings, health and wellness sessions, mentoring, and SAT/ACT preparation has provided many students and their families opportunities to future success.

MAYA’s participation in the DC Free Meals Program, has allowed them to give back to the community by ensuring children within the district’s Ward 7 are provided with nutritious meals during the summer months.

Our girls programs geared specifically towards helping troubled young teen girls through our mentoring program Sisters Assisting Sisters To Cultivate Our Youth (SASCY) is one we strive to make a local and national success.

SASCY’s Vission:

SASCY works to provide opportunities that allow teen girls to be exposed to experiences and opportunities that will assist them with cultivating themselves towards accomplishing their life’s calling.
